Pauline “Polly” Gillespie Helms, 97, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at home. The family will receive friends at West Concord Baptist Church, 225 Warren C Coleman Blvd., Concord, NC from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Mike Farley, will be held at the church at 2:00 p.m. immediately after the visitation. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. At other times the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Barbara Beck. Pauline was born on February 17, 1915. She was preceded in death by her father Tommy Lee Gillespie; mother, Mary Elizabeth Kee Gillespie and her step-mother, Addie Mae Little Gillespie; her first husband, Samuel Lee McClain and her second husband, Fred Lee Helms; a daughter, Helen Jones; a son, Sydney Helms; four infant children; a grandson, Tracey Kee; 11 brothers and sisters, Glenn Gillespie, Dupert Gillespie, Ollie Mae Gillespie, Bill Gillespie, Darrell Gillespie, John “Mickey” Gillespie, Charles Gillespie, Katherine Philyaw, Ruth Philyaw, Oveline Gilreath and James Gillespie, She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Beck and Katherine Kee; four grandchildren, Deborah Carpenter and husband, Gary, Kenneth Beck, Jr. and wife Alesia, Belinda Thomas and husband, George and Eddie Kee and wife, Paula; six sisters, Fannie Love, Jo Ann Norwood, Bonnie Mae Lowery, Mable Ferderer, Doris Ellen Eskew and Priscilla Fowler; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Poteat, Lauren Brim, Emily Johnson, Chris Maidene, Kimberly Baucom, Andrew Thomas, Aaron Thomas, Amy Lunceford, Tiffany Williams, Adam Kee and Melisa Goodman; and 13 great-great-grandchildren, Jeslyn Stone, Addisyn Stone, Evan Stone, Gracie Baucom, Carter Johnson, Lincoln Brim, Potter Williams, Cade Thomas, Austin Kee, Kaylee Kee, Aaron Kee, Zachary Goodman and Hannah Goodman. Memorials may be made to West Concord Baptist Church Building Fund, 225 Warren C. Coleman Blvd., Concord, NC 28027. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Helms family.
