Pauline Murray

Pauline Murray, 90, of Oakboro, NC, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023. She was born in Oakboro on April 5, 1933, to the late  Matthew and Annie H. Tucker.

She married James Ray Murray on November 29, 1955, in a union that lasted 57 wonderful years. Pauline and Ray's early life together was one of family and travel.

Ray's Army career took them and their three children to postings in North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky where Ray retired in 1974. While Ray served a tour in Korea and three tours in Vietnam, Pauline was busy raising their three children at home in North Carolina.

Pauline was a kind and generous woman and was always willing to help others. She was an active member of the Red Cross Baptist Church for 50 years. Pauline also enjoyed volunteering
for veterans organizations and civic groups as often as she could.

She is survived by her children, Denise (Kenneth) Tucker of Midland, NC; Pam (Ernie) Lowder of Oakboro, NC; son Dudley (Carol) Murray of Oakboro, NC; 5 grandchildren; 6 great
grandchildren; and her sister Lou Hinson who loved and adored her.

Pauline's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved spending time with her family and was always there for them.

Her home was a place of warmth and love, where everyone felt welcome and special. Pauline was a loving and caring woman, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Her hobbies and interests included gardening, quilting, riding her tractor, canning, cooking, and sharing meals. Her table was open to everyone, and she always made sure that there was enough food to go around.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 pm, on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm,in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel,officiated by Rev. Jesse Herring. Burial will conclude at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC. 28001 or Trinity Place, 24724 US-52, Albemarle, NC. 28001.
