Pearl Simpson Eury, 89, of Concord, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at home with family by her side.
Pearl was born August 26, 1935, in Cabarrus County to the late Maude Barnhardt Simpson and the late Ferris Simpson. She was the youngest of 9 siblings, all preceding her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chief Eury; grandson, Anthony Drye; daughter-in-law, Tammy Eury; and son-in-law, Grady Cook.
She attended Bethel school. Pearl married Johnnie "Chief" Ray Eury when she was 14. Her first child was born when she was 16; and in 9 years, she gave birth to 5 children. She and Chief were married for 71 years before his sudden death in 2021.
Pearl worked in a hosiery mill, a garment factory and at Hardees making biscuits. Her greatest service was being a mother and wife. She loved her family, flowers, her kittens, the beach, picnicking on Morrow Mountain and going to her church. She was by far the greatest cook who ever lived, especially her fried chicken! Neither of her daughters could duplicate her recipe. Her greatest joy was in her family. She was the rock for her children, always there to take care of them, never wavering in her unconditional love and support.
In the front of her bible, she wrote "I am blessed and highly favored." Pearl loved the Lord with all her heart. All who knew her were blessed by her strong faith and sweet spirit. She will be greatly missed.
Pearl is survived by her children, Brenda E. Cook, Kathy (John) Heberlein, Mike (Gladys) Eury, Johnny Eury, Rachel (Mark Steele) Allmond; 7 grandchildren, Kenny, Tina, Phillip, Greg, Houston, Crystal and Nathan; 13 great-grandchildren, Austin, Blake, Abigail, Leacy, PJ, Cody, Kirstyn, Dane, Willa, Pearl, Briggs, Hattie and Mabel; great-great grandson, Bentley.
