Peggy Alexander

Peggy Lee Ferguson Alexander, 88, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

Peggy was born November 25, 1931 in Union County, NC to the late Rev. E.M. Ferguson and the late Ethel Helms Ferguson.

Peggy attended Walter Bickett High School, Monroe, NC and graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1950. She worked at Grayce's Beauty Shoppe in Kannapolis, NC for 27 years and then at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1996. At the time of her death, she was a member at Southside Baptist Church, Concord, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Edsel C. Haigler, who passed in 1984, brothers Robert L. Ferguson, Paul E. Ferguson, and Bobby W. Ferguson, sister Helen Ferguson Sloop, a stepson Michael Thomas Alexander, brother-in-law David Sloop, and sisters-in-law Dean P. Ferguson, Julia B. Ferguson and Diane F. Ferguson.

The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 2pm at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Joey Morrison. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis at Hwy. 29N at I85, Exit 58, Concord.

Survivors include husband Roy Brice Alexander of Concord, NC, a daughter Julie Ann Haigler of Concord, NC, son Phillip DeWayne Haigler (Linda) of Mt. Ulla, NC, grandson Phillip Christopher Haigler (Kristin) of Mooresville, NC, granddaughter Carrie Haigler Smith (James) of Concord, NC, great-grandchildren Lillian Marie “Lily” Haigler, Brooklyn Kate Haigler, Miles Christopher Haigler, Kelsey Christine Smith and Alexander James Smith, sister Becky F. Blackwell ( Herman) of Kannapolis, NC, brothers Jerry D. “Smiley” Ferguson of Deltona, FL, Rev. Harry T. “Trooper” Ferguson (Judy) of China Grove, NC, sisters-in-law Ellen Ferguson, and Wanda M. Ferguson, both of Concord, NC, and special nieces and nephews.
