Peggy Smith

Peggy Cole Smith, 73, of New London, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022 at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle.

Peggy was born November 7, 1948 in Stanly County to the late Walter Stancil Cole Jr. and the late Hazel Goodman. She was also preceded in death by husband, Sherrill Ethan Smith, brothers, Wayne Cole and Ted Cole.

The body will lie in state from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The graveside officiated by Rev. Roger S. Thomas will follow at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 44118 Highway 740, New London, NC 28127.

Survivors include sons, Marty Garner and Stephen Harris; daughter, Fallon Brown; stepdaughters, Anita (Kelly) Thompson and Pamela (Archie) Hulen; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an Animal Shelter of your choice .
