Peggy Harwood

Peggy Ann Harwood, 77, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

Peggy was born December 6, 1944 in Stanly County to Clevie Haston Hatley and Martha Ann Hatley.

The family will receive friends Sunday March 6th, 2022 from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM, at Hartsell Funeral Homes of Concord. The funeral service will follow in the funeral homes chapel at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Kevin Kurtz. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church at 32056 Herrin Grove Rd, Mount Pleasant.

Peggy Hatley Harwood was born and raised in Stanly County, NC. She married her high school sweetheart, Roger Harwood, shortly after his graduation. Still in their teenage years, Peggy and Roger built their homestead right outside Mt. Pleasant in Stanly County. Peggy started her career working for Cannon Mills at Plant 6 where she worked her way to becoming the first women supervisor of her department and continued her career there for 20 years. Peggy then contributed her organizational and financial skills to help maintain CPSL for almost 40 years along side her husband. Family came first for Peggy, she enjoyed “Third Sunday” dinners once a month with her two sisters, Gail and Sheila, and their families. Peggy was the expert noodle maker for the monthly family dinners. Family time, alongside reading, and watching basketball, baseball, and westerns were her favorite pastimes.

Survivors include husband, Roger Spencer Harwood; son, Scotty Harwood (Tammy); daughter, Angela Faile (Joel); grandchildren, Sarah Harwood, Benjamin Harwood (Emily), Mary Harwood, Joshua Faile, Ian Faile (Audrey) and Anna Faile.

Memorials may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church at 32056 Herrin Grove Rd, Mount Pleasant.
