Peggy Smith

April 15, 1930 — February 17, 2015

Peggy Howell Smith died peacefully in the presence of Christ Jesus on February 17, 2015 at CMC - Lincoln, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Smith was born April 15, 1930 in Concord, NC and devoted her life to her family as well as serving her churches and variety of careers over the years including employment in Concord and Charlotte, NC by the Concord Tribune, S&D Coffee, Friedman's Jewelers, Charlotte Telephone Answering service and Walmart. Most recently she lived in Sherrills Ford, NC. She was a member of Lebanon UMC of Maiden, NC and formerly of Rocky Ridge UMC, Concord, NC where she served as an adult Sunday school teacher for many years. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Mae Eury H. Hall and former husband, Max H. Smith, Sr..

She is survived by her children; Max H. Smith, Jr. of Concord, Melanie G. Smith of Sherrills Ford, NC, Kevin M. Smith of Concord and DeLeslie Smith-Fulker and husband Rev. Gary Fulker of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Scott E. Smith (son of Max and Laura Smith), Jared G. Fulker and Gavin R. Fulker (sons of Rev. Gary Fulker and DeLeslie); great grandchildren, Christian (Chris), Nathaniel (Nate) and Hunter Smith (sons of Scott Smith and Valerie).

Peggy is remembered for being a devoted mother and grandmother and using her beautiful voice to sing for the Lord in many venues over the years. She touched everyone she met with her sweet spirit, beautiful smile and joyous, kind demeanor. She will always be in our hearts and memories.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Monday, February 23, 2015 at Rocky Ridge UMC in Concord followed by a celebration of life service at 1:00 pm officiated by Rev. Gary Fulker from Lebanon UMC. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
