Philip Bonds

Philip John Bonds, 63, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

Phil was born April 23, 1957 in Concord to the late James Oliver Bonds, Sr. and the late Rose White Miller Bonds.  He was also preceded in death by step-mother, Nan Barnhardt Bonds.

Phil graduated from Concord High and Western Carolina University.  He played soccer at WCU and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.  He loved his soccer teammates and fraternity and made lifelong brothers.  He also coached soccer for the Mint Hill Blaze and loved those children as if they were his own.  He retired from a career in insurance.  Phil had a big personality and always had a smile.  He will be remembered for having a great wit and sense of humor.  Phil never met a stranger and he loved everybody.

Survivors include brother, Jim Bonds and wife, Sherry, of Concord; sister, Anna Locklear and husband, Craig, of Concord; step-brother, Nick Allen and wife, Carol, of Dana Point, CA; step-brother, Doug Allen and wife, Sparky, of Sparks, NV; niece, Jessie Bonds of Kannapolis; nephew, James Bonds, III, of Concord; niece, Melissa Locklear Myers and husband, Ryan, of Concord; nephew, Philip Locklear of Concord.; great nephew, Atticus Waller; great niece, Riley Myers; and loving companion, Priscilla Wood.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Carol Carkin.
