Phyllis Furr

Phyllis Elaine Marbry Furr, 85, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2021 at her home.

Phyllis was born on October 16, 1935 to the late Charles and the late Mary (Lowder) Marbry in Stanly County, NC. She lived a full and interesting life focusing on her family and friends, who adored her. She was a faithful member of Porter United Methodist Church and loved her church family dearly.

She was also preceded in death by daughters, Susan Furr Underwood and Caroline Furr Norton; grandson Garry Lee Lanham; brother, Ernest (Ike) Isenhour, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Roland Anthony Furr.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ret. Lt. Colonel Reather (R.C.) Furr, Jr.; daughter, Cornetha (Kyle) Holcomb of Albemarle and son, Kelvin (Christina) Furr of Whiteville; son-in-law, Terry (Nina) Underwood; four grandchildren, Brittany Norton (Matthew) Brady, Lauren E. Holcomb, Gabrielle C. Holcomb, and Daniel J. Underwood; two great-grandsons, Liam McCall and Isaiah Brady; two great-granddaughters, Aurelia McCall and Rumi Holcomb; sister-in-laws, Pauline Furr and Frances Furr; and a niece and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 12:30pm - 1:30pm at Porter United Methodist Church, Norwood, NC. The funeral service will be held at 1:30pm, officiated by Rev. Caitlin McAlhany. Burial to follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
