With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, Pierre Laventure St. Fort, of Charlotte, on October 12th, 2024, at the age of 85. Born in Gonaïves, Haiti, Pierre's journey through life was one marked by determination, love, and a deep commitment to his family.
Pierre completed his studies at St.Valrey School and, from a young age, displayed a remarkable aptitude for mechanics, crafting toy cars for his neighborhood friends. Pursuing his passion, he moved to Port-au-Prince, where he graduated at the top of his class from the JB Damien Trade School. His expertise as a mechanic became his life’s work, and he quickly rose to the role of chief mechanic with the Haitian Armed Forces.
In 1970, Pierre emigrated to the United States, where his mechanical prowess led him to achieve the American dream. Nine years after arriving, he founded his own business, Efficiency Auto Care, a gas station and repair shop in Brooklyn, New York.
Pierre’s legacy is one of dignity, strength, and unwavering love. He was a devoted father, a pillar of wisdom, and an ardent lover of music, particularly Skasha #1. To those who knew him, Pierre was a source of comfort, guidance, and inspiration, always ready to offer support and share his vast knowledge.
From his humble beginnings, Pierre built a life based on hard work, resilience, and the values of family and community. His commitment to his children was boundless, and the sacrifices he made continue to shape their lives. Pierre taught us the importance of integrity, perseverance, and kindness. Those fortunate enough to have known him have been forever touched by his presence.
For his children, Pierre was not only a father but also a mentor and friend. His quiet strength, gentle guidance, and endless patience left an indelible mark on their hearts. He instilled in them the courage to face life’s challenges with humility and grace, lessons for which they will be forever grateful.
Pierre’s love for his family was limitless. He was a devoted partner to Erna Joseph and a proud grandfather who cherished time spent with his grandchildren, Max, Luc, Keara, Abigaille, Reginald Noah, Laurie (Lolo) St. Fort, and Kaliyah Fletcher. He embraced life’s simple joys-telling stories, laughing, and celebrating the achievements of his loved ones. His infectious laughter, radiant smile, and warmth lit up every room. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to guide and watch over us.
Pierre Lavanture St. Fort is survived by his ex-wife, Solange St. Fort, with whom he shared four children: Reginald, Judith, Ralph, and Patricia St. Fort. He is also survived by his life partner, Erna Joseph, and her children: Patricia Fletcher, Natalie, Ava, and Lyn Hewitt. His siblings-Jean-Bernard Mingo, Serge Lefevre, Rose St. Cyr, Victoria Lefevre, DeGrace Jean-Baptiste,
Marie Dejean, Marie Nicole Lefevre, Emnine Lefevre, Nadege Lefevre, and Cecil Lefevre-along with his extended family, will miss him dearly.
