Polly Newsome Granillo, 76 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.
Polly was born December 21, 1939 in Union County to the late Ellis Farley Newsome and the late Mamie Jane Smith Newsome.
She was also preceded in death by husband of 51 years, Tony L. Granillo; brother, Carmen Rushing; three sisters, Margie Haigler, Odell Beaver, and Jessie Jordan; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Wayne Bennett. Burial will be at the church cemetery at 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro, NC 28129.
Survivors include daughter, Cynthia Joy and husband Charles of Lincolnville, ME; son, Tony Granillo and wife Vibeke of Palmer, AK; daughter, Armida Chavis and husband Charlie of Justin, TX; brother, Pete Newsome; two sisters, Billie French and Maxine Deese; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and and abundance of nieces and nephews.
