Rachel Plowman

Mrs. Rachel Marie Surratt Plowman, age 72, of 110 Vine Street, New London, NC died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC. She was born April 14, 1937 in Davidson County, NC to the late Rupert Fletcher Surratt and Mazie Vale Cook Surratt. She is also preceded in death by her twin brother Raeford Lee Surratt. Rachel was a homemaker and a choir member at her church, First Baptist Church, New London. She enjoyed playing board games with her grandchildren and she liked yard work. She is survived by her husband Archie Dean "A.D." Plowman, Jr.. They were married for 48 years. She is also survived by her son Roger Plowman and wife Michele, Denton, NC, grandchildren Trent and Travis Plowman and sister Clara Rose Barefoot, Denton, NC. A visitation will be held Monday, March 8 from 6 - 8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home - Albemarle. The service is going to be held on Tuesday, March 9 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church - New London. The Rev. Otis Goins will officiate the service. Interment will be at New London Cemetery.
