Racquel Elise Fraser-Martinez

Racquel (Kelly) Elise Fraser-Martinez, 53, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday evening, August 19, 2024 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Racquel was born on June 5, 1971 in The Bronx, New York, to the late Bertrand Gabriel John Fraser and the late Darlene Constance Fraser. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bertrand Gabriel Fraser, II.

Raised as a Jehovah’s witness and ultimately giving her life to Christ at the Ephesus SDA church in Harlem, NY, she was a woman of faith known to be kind and have a gentle spirit. Her highest level of education was a master’s degree in social work and she is remembered for the many years she dedicated to being a case manager for ACS (Administration for Children’s Services) in NYC. Her hobbies included reading, playing time-management games, watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies, as well as being put to sleep by her best friend, Angela Lansbury in her favorite show, ‘Murder She Wrote’. 

She is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Jose Martinez of Concord, NC; sister, Robyn Smith-Taylor of AZ; brother, Rodd E. Smith of NY; brother DeNi Fraser of NY; sons, Ryan Ethan Fraser of AZ; son, Joshua Maximino Fraser-Martinez of NC; and daughter, Racquel Demi Lydia Martinez of NC. She had the honor of being a godmother to Sofia Nicolas, Rodd Smith II, Avenell Alexander, and Jurnee Love Smith Polee; and a super auntie to her niece Lyisha Joi Smith. Lastly, she leaves behind a plethora of other close and extended family as well as special friends that she loved dearly. 

Racquel's Celebration of Life will be held in Kannapolis, NC at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Her wishes weren’t to have a traditional funeral service, but to instead have a gathering that would include family, friends, food, music, love, and great memories all in her honor.
