Ralph Calvin Cook, 84 of Cabarrus County went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at home with his family by his side. Mr. Cook was born July, 27, 1928 in Cabarrus County to the late Charles Troy Cook and Almetta Deese Cook. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Melvin Cook “Poodle”, Richard Roy Cook “Joe”, Frank Troy Cook “Flirt’, Jennings Ray Cook “Hap”; two sisters, Queen Elizabeth “Lib” Anderson and Madge Nadine Hill and one grandson, Gregory Kent Lilly. He worked at Cannon Mills Plant #6 in Concord for 42 years and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Stanfield. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. Rev. Buck Canup and Rev. Jimmie Bartley will officiate. He will be buried at Howell’s Baptist Church Cemetery, 3800 Baptist Lane, Concord, N.C. 28025. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his loving wife, Debbie S. Cook of the home; three daughters, Melanie Lilly and companion Terry Hatley of Monroe, Linda Pearce-Starnes and husband Mike of Oakboro, Cathy Lapish and companion Ronnie “Jr” Little of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Terry “Hack” Cook and wife Sue of Midland; a brother, James Leonard “Lefty” Cook and wife Bobbie of Concord; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, coon and rabbit hunting and swimming dogs. We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Pons and staff at Cabarrus Family Medicine and Hospice Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their compassionate care and support. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, N.C. 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Cook family.
