Ralph Knight, 75, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2010 at home after a lengthy illness. He went peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born on April 17, 1935 in Nauvoo, Alabama to the late John Eldred and Arvada Spears Knight He is preceded in death by his companion, Christine Winecoff Caldwell; Arnold Knight; and sister, Jeanne Ritch. He is survived by three children, Penny Emery Benge (Tim), Pamela Dulaney (Mark), and Ralph Gregory Knight (Missy); step daughter, Susie Caldwell; four grandchildren, Mishelle Emery, Eric Emery, Quentin Dulaney, and Deagan Dulaney; sister in law, Helen Knight; brother in law, H.P. Ritch; niece, Brenda Ritch; two nephews, Donnie Ritch and Jimmy Knight; and many more friends and relatives left to cherish his memory. Ralph served his country after high school by joining the Air Force. He was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base for his six year tour. While being stationed at Patrick Air Force base he married and became the father of three beautiful children. He worked for Pan American World Airways during his tour. He went to work for NCNB in Clearwater, Florida and retired in 1991. Upon retiring, he moved to North Carolina with his daughter Pamela. He began living happily again and met the love of his life, Christine. They lived together for ten wonderful years with their beloved dog, Punkey until Christine passed in 2001. They spent a good deal of their time buying antiques and refinishing them to sell. They especially loved woodworking projects. Ralph requested that he be cremated and his ashes scattered in the mountains of North Carolina. He wanted no formal service, just a celebration of life with lots of prayers for his speedy journey to Heaven.
