Ralph Eugene Morgan, 92, of Midland, passed away February 23, 2022, at his home, following a short period of declining health.
He was born August 3, 1929, to the late Dallas Winslow Morgan and the late Lucianne Smith Morgan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bobby Sue Chaney Morgan, who passed away just 39 days prior on January 15th. They were fortunate to celebrate 70 years of marriage on December 23, 2021. He was the youngest and last living child of his family. He was preceded in death by siblings, Bill and John Morgan, Ruth Morgan Tucker; half siblings (by his father), Beatrice Morgan Pigg, Odell, Howard and Mary Ella Morgan, (by his mother) Dan and Albert Bost and Sally Bost Ranson; son-in-law, Bob Cuthbertson, daughter in law, Donna Morris Morgan, and grandson, Michael Little, and many special in laws.
Left to cherish his memory are children: Becky Little (Mike), Beverly Ratcliff (Bill), Roger Morgan (Myra), Gary Morgan (Robin), Vickie Cuthbertson, Judy Williams (Joe), Jayne Culp, and Randy Morgan (Janet); grandchildren: Melissa Moshtael (Sana), Stephen Tarlton (Tara), Brandon Tarlton, Meredith Maulden (Randy), Ted Morgan (Lydia), Clint Morgan (Melissa), Audrey Ridenhour (David), Amanda Cuthbertson, Emily Best (Patrick), Sam Williams (Amy), Philip Williams, Adam Williams, David Williams, Jessica Ammerman, Matthew Headrick, Scott Morgan (Jessica), Mindy Morgan, Step Grandchildren: Daniel Moose (Jennifer) and Lauren Moose; 27 great-grandchildren; brother in law, Lance Chaney (Betty); and sister in laws, Ruth Chaney and Pat Wilson.
He was born and lived his entire life in Midland. He and his wife, Bobbie, had 8 children, 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments. He and his siblings grew up on a farm, raised by a widowed mother, following the death of his father when he was 6. He had a lifelong love of farming and gardening and enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He took great pride in picking that first ripe tomato from his vines and sharing with others. He and his brother John, owned Morgan Masonry, and were well-known in the community and surrounding counties for their dependable, quality brick work. He was happy his sons followed in this profession. He enjoyed attending estate sales and auctions. He also was talented in woodworking and carving. He loved his friends and was sad in his later years that most of them had passed away.
He attended Howells Baptist Church growing up, was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland for most of his adult life, and in recent years, returned to Howell’s Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Sunday, February 27, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, NC. The funeral service will be at Howells Baptist Church, 3800 Baptist Ln., Concord, at 11 am, Monday, February 28, officiated by Rev. Edward Pigg and Rev. Tom Gibbs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
