He was born and lived his entire life in Midland. He and his wife, Bobbie, had 8 children, 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments.  He and his siblings grew up on a farm, raised by a widowed mother, following the death of his father when he was 6.  He had a lifelong love of farming and gardening and enjoyed the fruits of his labor.  He took great pride in picking that first ripe tomato from his vines and sharing with others. He and his brother John, owned Morgan Masonry, and were well-known in the community and surrounding counties for their dependable, quality brick work.  He was happy his sons followed in this profession.  He enjoyed attending estate sales and auctions.  He also was talented in woodworking and carving.  He loved his friends and was sad in his later years that most of them had passed away.

He attended Howells Baptist Church growing up, was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland for most of his adult life, and in recent years, returned to Howell’s Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Sunday, February 27, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, NC.  The funeral service will be at Howells Baptist Church, 3800 Baptist Ln., Concord, at 11 am, Monday, February 28, officiated by Rev.
