Ramelle Almond Cooper, 84, of Albemarle, passed away on February 3, 2013 at CMC- NorthEast, Concord. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 12:30pm until 2:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Burris and Rev. Todd McSwain, will follow at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel at 2:00pm. Burial will be held at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Oakboro, following the funeral service. Mrs. Cooper was born on April 1, 1928 in Stanly County, to the late S. Fred Almond and the late Ada Huneycutt Almond. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years in 1995, Charlie James Cooper; a son Barry Cooper in 1953; a sister Faye Shepherd and husband Ray and a brother, P. Ellis Almond and wife Betty and a special friend Harvey Bost. Ramelle is survived by one brother, Larry Almond and wife “Susie” of Albemarle; one sister, Shelby A. McSwain and husband Kenneth of Norwood, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith, educated in the Stanly County Schools and a former employee of Knitsters in Albemarle. Special thanks to Martha Turner, Edith Huneycutt, Wendy Clark, caregivers and the staff of Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Cooper family.
