Ray Barbee

Ray Junior Barbee, 76 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Universal Healthcare in Concord surrounded by his family. Ray was born June 29, 1936 in Cabarrus County to the late Vernon James Barbee and the late Dallie Mae Burris Barbee. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Lee Jay Barbee and Afton Barbee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, June 21, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service, officiated by Dr. Darrell Nance, will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church, 4311 Love Mill Rd. in Stanfield. Burial will follow at Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Ann Hargett Barbee; three children, Fairlan Barbee and wife Wanda, Cardell Barbee and wife Corletta, and Cathy; sisters, Lois Eudy, Verna Mae Laton, Ruth Austin, and Sadie Whitley; brothers, Marvin Barbee, and Roy Gene Barbee; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Ray worked as a dietitian for Cabarrus Hospital. He was a member of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church and loved to play the harp.
