Ray Knight

Charles Ray Knight, 86, of Old Dutch Road, West, Indian Trail, passed away December 21, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. Mr. Knight was born in Fulton County, Georgia, to Earl Lester Knight, Sr. and Eula Jones Knight who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Dr. Herman Brooks. Ray worked at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland for 47 years as an assistant to the funeral directors. He stopped working in 2008 due to health problems. His church membership was at Bethlehem Presbyterian in Monroe and he was a member of Union Lodge 618 AF & AM and Midland Chapter 260 Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife, Polly, of the home; son, Ryan and wife, Mary of Indian Trail; daughter, Cathy K. Robinson and husband Michael of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 23, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the chapel at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Michael Ward and Rev. Steve Nix. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Presbyterian, Monroe.
