Ray Wyant

Ray Wilson Wyant 79 of Concord, N.C. was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday August, 23rd at CMC Northeast in Concord. Ray, a loving and caring Husband, Daddy, Grand Paw, and Great grand Paw was born on July 2nd 1932 in Gaston County to the Rev. Craig Wilson and Annie Lucille Fraley Wyant. The family moved to Kannapolis in 1943. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Dean Wyant in February 1965. Ray was a member of Branchview First Church of God in Concord. He was an active member in the church. Ray served as an usher and a member of the 55 plus club. He was employed at Cannon Mills Plant 1 #6 weave room in the early years. He was the manager at Stop and Shop Supermarket and later retired from Overnight Trucking in Charlotte, NC in 1994. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ethel Gwyn Wyant and their daughter Vickie Carpenter (Kent) and her children, Richie Poston of Kannapolis, Christy Kay Johnson (Tim) of Concord and their son Ryan Johnson and Jennifer Poston of Hinesville, GA. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother,Helen McClure of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Lucille Kirkland of Jacksonville Florida, Rebecca Waltz (Bubba) of Summerville S.C. and Charles Wyant (Juanita) of Kissimmee, Florida, a host of nieces and nephews along with his, his beloved little dog, Trixie. The Family will receive family and friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Thursday , August 25th from 6 until 8 PM. The funeral services will be on Friday, August 26th at 11 AM at Branchview First Church of God. Vickie Carpenter will officiate the service with the Rev. Carlton Davidson and Rev. Fred Whaples. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. At all other times the family will be at the Family home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Branchview First Church of God, 246 Branchview Drive, Concord, N.C. 28025 and The Village Church, 9280 Davidson Hwy, Concord, N.C. 28027.
