Raymell Henderson Williams Goodman, 99, of Norwood, N.C., passed away on March 8, 2025.

She was born on April 21, 1925, to the late Donald and Martha Mae Henderson.

Raymell grew up in Mint Hill, N.C., and graduated from Bain High School in 1942. She attended Philadelphia Presbyterian Church for over 60 years.

In 1942, she married Jennings Williams and together they had two daughters, Marilyn Williams and Sherry Williams DiBari. Jennings passed away in 1983.

At age 64, Raymell and Paul Goodman eloped in Hawaii and then moved to his home in Norwood. She also gained an adult stepson, Ronnie Goodman, and stepdaughter, Ann Goodman Bowers, in the process.

In Norwood, she joined Memorial Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the "Rejoicing" Sunday School class. At the time of her passing, she was the church’s oldest living member.

Raymell and Paul traveled extensively, visiting every state in the U.S., as well as Canada and Europe. Among their many adventures, they rode the ‘Snow Train’ across Canada and camped in a tent during a trip to Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jennings Williams; her second husband, Paul Goodman; her daughter, Marilyn; her brother, Hugh Henderson; her sister, Peggy Henderson Phillips; and her adult stepson, Ronnie Goodman.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry DiBari (Michael), stepdaughter Ann (Tony) Bowers, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, March 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Norwood; visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens at 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, N.C.

Raymell was able to live independently thanks to her many “angels” including Martha and John Gaddy, Judy and Rodney Lee, Judy and Ernie Barbee, and Ann and Tony Bowers.
