Born January 8, 1943 in Tampa, Florida, to the late Fred E. and Janie Mae Hammeken, he was also preceded in death by his wife Gini, his son Eric and brother Jimmy. Ray proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Chikaskia during war time. He was an avid golfer, making his first hole-in-one in 2016. Wood working, a favorite hobby, produced many teddy bear chairs, rocking horses for the children as well as beautiful furniture pieces for Gini that kept him on a "honey do" list always believing he could build anything.
CiCi was the newest doggie addition to his life. Both he and Gini loved animals and had a menagerie of ponds of Coy, exotic birds, and doggies of every breed, through their lives. This along with growing orchids, a try at "bee keeping" and boat building were a few of their interest. They both were project people.
