Rebecca Carter

Rebecca Wright Carter, 75 years of age, of New London, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Carter was born September 22, 1939 in North Carolina to the late O.D. Wright and Eunice Beck Wright. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Wright.
Rebecca was a volunteer for Stanly Regional Medical Center, a faithful member of her church, and also a member of the Stanly County Historical Society. She was an animal lover, enjoyed working in her flower gardens and watching the butterflies. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 126 West North Street, Albemarle, officiated by Pastor Elizabeth Ayscue . Entombment will follow at Mt. Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Creek Road, New London.
Survivors include husband, Joseph E. Carter of New London, daughter Lynne Purgason, sons Robert A. Purgason and wife Katie, and granddaughter Lexi, Gene Queen and wife Susan, Jimmy Queen and wife Georgie, Billy Queen, Carolyn Carter, Debra and Arnold Willard, David Carter and wife Berna, Phillip and wife Pam, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
