Reginald Bell

Reginald David Bell, age 79 of New London, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at CMC Northeast. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Elizabeth Ayscue. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. At other times, the family will be at David’s home in New London. Mr. Bell was born at the Bell family farmhouse in Wampee, SC on November 09, 1932 to the late Emmett Kent Bell and the late Agnes Ida Shannon Bell Ivey. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife Isabelle Helene Klingbeil Bell of Walpole, MA. He is survived by daughters, Shannon Bell Newport and her husband Kent of Albemarle and Courtney Bell White and her husband the Honorable Brian White of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Benjamin Kent Newport, Sarah Madeline Newport, Amelia Grace White, Isabelle Faith White, and Madeline Hope White; sister, Bobbie Jean Bell Williams and brother-in-law Bill Williams of Hamlet, NC; nieces, Caroline Williams Cone and husband Kerry of Little Rock, AR, Elizabeth Williams Parkes and husband Ian of Shrewsbury Shropshire, UK; nephews, Bill Williams and wife Jane of Largo, FL, Brett Williams and wife Mollye of Fredericksburg,TX; great nieces and nephews, Katherine Black, William Black and his wife Megan, Ben Williams and his wife Erin, Marjorie Williams and Mary Elizabeth Williams; great great-nephew, Thomas Michael Black; and honorary daughter, Gail Burris; Mr. Bell graduated from Wampee High School and attended Clemson University. He was a longtime member of the Men's Prayer Breakfast at First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle where he also served as Deacon and Elder. He came to Albemarle with Collins and Aikman and continued with a career in textiles. David enjoyed backyard cookouts, playing poker with friends, and sitting in the back booth at Rosebriar. There was no greater joy than going back home to Wampee/North Myrtle Beach for oyster roasts,seafood and beach music. An avid Clemson fan, he enjoyed tailgating and watching the Tigers play. His greatest love was his family. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle, 126 W. North Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Bell family.
