Renea Greene

Renea Smith Greene, age 61 of Oakboro, NC, passed away on November 1, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer, at Carolina Medical Center NE. Her passing was peaceful as she was surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 6pm until 8pm. At other times, the family will meet at her home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4 at 2pm at Red Cross Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Charlie Littlejohn and assisted by Pastor Jerry Ingle. There will be a 30 minute state prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Red Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Greene was born in Stanly County on July 3, 1950, to the late Wayne Heath Smith and the late Jewell Barbee Smith. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Darice Greene, of the home; son, Matthew William Greene of Oakboro; daughter, Christy Greene Maloney and husband Scott of Shelby, NC; sister, Janet Smith Efird of Oakboro. Mrs. Greene had been employed with Stanly Knitting for 25 years and later was employed by the County of Stanly government offices. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Greene family.
