Rev. Dr. Jackie Lee Crater, Sr., 77, of Concord, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis.
Jackie was born October 29, 1936, in High Point, NC, the son of the late Jesse Ross and Ethel Ruth Moss Crater. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Carolyn Crater, sisters, Patti Jane Marsh and Victoria Lee Crater.
Jackie served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. Afterwards, he received his undergraduate at Wake Forrest University and his doctorate degree in ministry from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Jackie served over 30 years as a pastor for the United Church of Christ. He also worked for the City of Concord for 15 years. Jackie enjoyed reading, listening to classical music and walking.
Survivors include son, Jackie Lee Crater, Jr. of Meban, NC; daughter, Amanda Crater Hicks (Thomas) of Mt. Pleasant, NC; granddaughters, Morgan Grogan Smith (Ryan) of Greensboro, NC, Carolyn Grogan Carpenter (Ricky) and Maribeth Hick of Concord; one great grandchild, Logan Carpenter.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.
