Rev. Earl Barringer

December 28, 1924 — March 17, 2017


Rev. Earl William Barringer, 92, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 17, 2017 at Pruitt Health in Harrisburg, NC.

He was born December 28, 1924 in Cabarrus County to the late Ralph Riser Barringer and Nora Earnhardt Barringer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Everett Barringer.

Rev. Barringer was happily married to Hazel Herlocker Barringer for almost 70 years until her passing in 2013.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Joan Barringer Dry and husband, Gene of Concord; two grandsons, Michael Eugene Dry and wife Tina of Richmond, VA; Jason Earl Dry and wife, Stacie of Concord; two beloved great grandsons, Lawson Earl Dry and Ryker Lee Dry; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gwyn and Rachel Hartsoe of Kannapolis. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was with the 1st and 6th Division Bomb Disposal Unit.

Rev. Barringer's passion in life was when he could tell others about his Lord and Savior. He was pastor at Miami Baptist Church in Concord for ten years. He was interim pastor at Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church in Concord for many years. He was also an electrician and worked for Howard Electric Company.

His life was such a wonderful example of sharing God's work and how much he cared and loved everyone he came in contact with. He truly lived the way every day and left his family with a Godly legacy.

A service to celebrate Earl's life will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church with the funeral service to begin at 3:00 pm, officiated by Rev. David Wilson, Rev. Jim Grigg, Rev. Lewis Whittington and Rev. Thomas Lambert. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Pruitt Health for their support and passionate care.
