Reverend Curlee
May 12, 1929 — August 10, 2016
On August 10, 2016, Reverend G. Melvyn Curlee went home to be with his Lord.
Reverend Curlee was ordained into the ministry in 1949. He faithfully served the Lord for forty years in ten churches, including, Temple Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC and Glen View Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. Before his retirement, Reverend Curlee graduated from Catawba College, Wingate College and South Western Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity Degree. He was a graduate of Oakboro High School, Oakboro, NC.
Reverend Curlee loved his Lord and shared the Word of God with everyone he met. He displayed his love for his family through his faithful giving, unconditional love and wisdom.
Born May 12, 1929 in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Silas W. and Pearl Hahn Curlee. He was preceded to heaven by his wife of fifty-one years, Martha Fisher Curlee in 2001
His survivors include his wife of eleven years, Mildred Baucom Curlee of the home; his son, Paul (Karen) Curlee of Fayetteville, NC; his daughter, Jayne Curlee of Concord, NC; a brother, Bobby (Willie) Curlee of Locust, NC; his grandchildren, Christopher Curlee, Stephanie Myers, Justin Curlee, Christy Tucker and Katelyn Ford; great grandchildren, Michael Morrison, Layna Tucker, Ethan Myers, Dylan Curlee, Addison Myers, Emily Tucker and Aubree Smith; numerous step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
The family will receive Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, NC. A memorial service to celebrate his life will begin at 3:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Rodney Quesenberry will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
