Reverend Dee B. Martin Hwy 218 E. Monroe, NC B-April 27, 1925 D-July 21, 2010 The Reverend Dee B. Moore Martin went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 21, 2010 passing peacefully in his sleep at Lake Park Nursing Center. His wife, Jo was lovingly at his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He will be missed by his family, many friends, and everyone who knew him. He was a good pastor who always put his church family first. He was preceeded in death by his wife Francis Melvin Martin, parents Mr. & Mrs. George W. Martin, brothers Raymond Sechrist and Herman Sechrist. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Jo Watson Martin, sons Rev. Philip Martin and wife Emily of Kentucky, the Rev. Dr. Steve Martin and wife Shirley of Winston Salem, NC, brother Charles Martin, and sister, Elizabeth Wilson both of Madison, NC. Grandchildren Chris Stamps and Husband Mike and Stephen Martin and wife Joy. Stepdaughter Toie Blake and husband Perry of Matthews, NC. Great-grandchildren, Kevin, Wesley and Brittany Stamps and Noah and Abby Martin, and three Great-great-grandchildren. Dee B. served in the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church and continued serving churches after retirement for a total of over 68 years. He served on the Western NC Conference secretarial staff for 24 years. Dee B. proudly served as Chaplain of the Scottish Society of the Waxhaws for several years. The family would like to offer their deepest appreciation to the staff of Lake Park Nursing Center at Lake Park, NC. A Celebration of Life will be held at Zion United Methodist Church in Monroe at 2:00 pm Friday, July 23. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 Friday prior to the service. Family and friends are welcomed to come by Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland to pay their respects, anytime after 6:00 pm on Thursday July 22, 2010. Internment will be at 12:00 on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Madison, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Zion United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Fish Rd. Monroe, NC 28110. Family will gather at the home.
