Rev. Odell Dover age 88 of 537 Hillandale Street Concord passed away on Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at his home. Born on May 29, 1921 in Madison County Georgia to the late Fred Grady Dover and the late Susan (Hill) Dover. Also preceded in death by his wife Jean (Eudy) Dover, sons, Donald and Ronald Dover, and daughters, Betty Jean Dover and Diane Dover. Rev. Dover was a Southern Baptist minister and he was the founding pastor of Near Calvary Baptist Church. He also served many other churches in Cabarrus and Rowan County. Mr. Dover retired from Cannon Mills as an electrician and also from the VA Hospital in Salisbury as a transportation engineer. The family meeting place will be the home. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 1 PM until 2:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 3 PM, with the Rev. Mike Mullis, and the Rev. Joel Dover (His grandson) officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Graveside Military rites will be performed by The Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. Survived by: son, Bill Dover and wife Kay of Salisbury, NC; daughters, Brenda Evans of Forsythe, GA; Carol Boutwell and husband John of Norwood, NC; Susan Drye and husband Gaylan of Concord, NC; and Fran Barton of Concord, NC; sister, Monteen Massey of Easley, SC; ten grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
