Richard Baker

Richard "Rick" John Baker, 67 years of age, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Rick was born December 29, 1948 in Concord, NC to Marjorie G. Stearns and the late James Melvin Baker. He was also preceded in death by a brother James "Jimmy" Melvin Baker, Jr.; as well as his step-father Walter Stearns.

In addition to his mother, Rick is also survived by his daughters, Brandy Benfield and Laura (Boyd) Love; sons, Chris Baker, Ryan Baker; as well as his twins: daughter Kaley Baker, and son Patrick Baker and wife Taylor; and the mother of his children Jane Baker. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Danielle Curlee, Tyler Voorhies, Chase Baker, Jolton Love and one grandson on the way Cole Love; sisters, Diane Baker and Margo Shackelford; and several nieces and nephews.

Rick proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict in 1969. He was a loving father who worked very hard to provide for his family. He also loved the beach and spending time with his loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00 pm, Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Buck Canup. Burial will follow at St. James The Greater Catholic Church Cemetery at 2323 Gold Hill Road in Concord with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local Boys and Girls Club or Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28083
