Richard Carter

Richard "Wayne" Carter, 78, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019, due to complications from an injury sustained in September 2018.

Wayne was born November 11, 1940 at home in Concord to the late Jessie and Trilby Carter.  He is also preceded in death by stepson, Stephen Dale Bolick.

Wayne was a partner with Carter Brothers Painting with his brother, Floyd Lee Carter, Sr.  He attended Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church, Concord.  Wayne loved fishing and growing lots of tomatoes to share with others.  He was an avid collector of comic books, gnomes, guns, knives, coins and paper money.  He loved all cats and never turned away a stray.  Wayne was a devoted husband and brother.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Shirley Brown Bolick Carter of Concord; brother, Floyd Lee Carter, Sr. and wife, Lillian, of Concord; Benny Eugene Carter and wife, Pat, of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Trilby Diane Foster and husband, Gradon, of China Grove; 8 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. David Wilson.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
