Richard Keasler

Richard Eugene Keasler, 76 years of age, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 20, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Richard was born February 6, 1938 in Concord, NC to the late Raymond Harold Keasler and the late Laura Keasler. He was also preceded in death by wife, Peggy W. Keasler. Richard was a chorus teacher in Cabarrus County for 30 years and drove charter buses after he retired. He also served many years in church music ministry. The Richard E. Keasler teacher of the year award is given for excellence in music education annually by the NCMEA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Crosspointe Baptist Church in Concord officiated by Rev. Leon Hawks. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. He will lie in state 30 min prior to the service. Survivors include son, Robby (Ginger) Keasler of Concord, NC; son, Richy (Melissa) Keasler of Concord, NC; daughter, Dede Keasler of Gerton, NC; brother, Ken Keasler of Concord, NC; sister, Barbara Moose of Mt. Pleasant, NC; grandchildren, Caleb, Caroline, Laurel, and Logan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crosspointe Baptist Church at 1175 Crosspointe Dr. Concord, NC 28025.
