Richard "Dick" Kolk, 69 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at Salisbury VA Hospice.
Mr. Kolk was born December 27, 1946 in Akron, Ohio to the late Edwin Albert and Virginia Vonderau Kolk. Richard served during the Tet Offensive and was the recipient of three Vietnam Service Medals which include, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. Dick was an avid golfer that truly loved the game. He was a member of the Badin Inn Golf Club and a former ranger/starter at Old North State Club. He was known to have a love of cars and proudly owned a 1967 Mustang Fastback and a 2010 Mustang Shelby GT500.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at Bethany United Methodist Church in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Ben Sloan.
Survivors include: wife, Catherine Morgan Kolk of Albemarle; son, Richard A. Kolk, Jr. and wife Sophia of Fort Myers, FL; daughter, Karin M. Kolk-Davidson of Naples, FL; son, Kristopher W. Kolk and wife Amy of Norwalk, OH; son, Patrick R. Kolk of Bonita Springs, Fl; son, Nicholas M. Kolk of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Barbara J. Parker and husband Tom of Norton, OH and Nancy Knudsen and husband Roger of Winesburg, OH; brother-in-law, Joe R. Morgan, Jr. and wife Sandy of Southport, NC; mother-in-law, Martha Dean Morgan of Albemarle and eight grandchildren.
