Richard Martin

Richard Reed Martin, 72 years of age, of Locust, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at CMC - NorthEast in Concord. Richard was born May 16, 1941 in Geneva, Ohio to the late Forrest Martin and the late Alice Mae Sackett Letak. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The memorial service will be on Friday at 11:00 am in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor Jerry Ingle. Military honors will be conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. At other times the family will be gathering at the home. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Loretta Mae Marrison Martin of the home; four daughters, Rita M. Heatherly and husband Jeffrey of Locust, Leigh Ann Martin of Columbus, OH, Shelly K. Bowling of Locust, Susan C. DeFazio and Lenny Liles of Locust; five grandchildren, Karrie, Wade, Jessica, Jordan, Tiana,; one great granddaughter, Ariana; and sister, Linda Drabik of Cleveland, OH. Richard was a family man who loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren greatly. He honorably served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc. in Midland after 19 years of service as a security officer. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Martin family.
