Richard Jefferson Melgar

Richard Jefferson Melgar, 43, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Five Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Concord, NC.

Mr. Melgar was born June 6, 1981, in New York, NY to Jose Ricardo Melgar and the late Azucena Trinidad Melgar Cabrera.

Mr. Melgar was a passionate sports and music enthusiast, known for his unwavering loyalty to his favorite hometown teams, the New York Yankees, Knicks and Jets. He enjoyed listening to music and was an avid concert goer. His contagious smile and laugh left a profound impact on everyone he met. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. 

Survivors include father, Jose Melgar; sisters, Jennifer Delacruz and Erika Melgar; and nephews, Damian and Jason Delacruz.

The Melgar Family will receive friends and family from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral mass will be on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlotte, and will be officiated by Rev. Matthew Codd.
