Richard Newell

Richard Franklin Newell Jr., 75, of Concord, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis.
Mr. Newell was born July 22, 1941to the late Richard and Viola Newell. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Lynn Newell.
Mr. Newell retired after 32 years of service of driving a truck for Overnite Transportation. He enjoyed hanging with friends, dancing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include beloved wife of 56 years, Linda Childers Newell; sons, Frankie Newell (Cynthia) and Jeff Newell; grandson, Jason Newell; granddaughter, Jessica Lynn English (Chance); four great-grandsons, Kash, Kruse, Kase and Kooper; and sister, Sarah Green.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord, officiated by Rev. Roxanne Allman. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Monday, May 29, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. Mr. Newell will be laid to rest at West Concord Cemetery, following the service.
