Richard Pepper
April 16, 1938 — March 22, 2017
Mr. Richard Carroll Pepper, 78 years of age, of Concord, passed away from a long illness surrounded by loving friends and family on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Richard was born April 16, 1938 in Statesville, NC, to the late William Kenneth Campbell and the late Frances Horne.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Richard Randolph Pepper, stepfather, Alex Pepper, and brother, William Kenneth Pepper.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm in the funeral home chapel and will be officiated by Rev. David Snow. Burial will be on Monday, March 27, 2017, at 11:00am at the Sharon Memorial Park at 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte.
Survivors include wife and caregiver of 50 years, Joyce Wisecarver Pepper of Concord; son, Marc (Amanda) Pepper of Charlotte; daughter, Gina (David) Porter of Concord; daughter, Renee Burks of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Josh, Zach, and Ricky Pepper, Erin and Nathan Porter, and Jason Lizotte; three brothers, John David Campbell, Jerry Pepper, and Dean Pepper; special cousin, Connie Clark, and many special nieces and nephews.
Richard was a 1957 graduate of Harding High School in Charlotte, NC. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Prior to his 1996 double bypass, Richard donated 152 pints of blood to the Red Cross. He retired from Wachovia Bank in 2007 after 24 years of service. His hobbies were watching Panthers football, NASCAR, and spending time with his beloved brown dog, Logan.
