Richard Smith

Richard Dale "Rick" Smith, 63, of 3707 Cold Springs Road passed away on Wednesday, March 02, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast in Concord. He was born on January 24, 1948 in Cabarrus County. Rick was a heavy equipment operator for The NCDOT, and was a member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord Chapel on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. He is survived by: wife, Donna Marie Osborne Smith of the home; son, Rusty Smith and wife Erin of Yanceyville, NC; daughter, Christine Blythe of Concord; father, Daniel Columbus Smith of Concord; mother, Edith Mae Alsobrooks Simmons of Concord; grandchildren, Addison Smith of Yanceyville, NC, Katelyn Blythe of Concord and Chase Blythe also of Concord.
