Richard "Dickie" Clayton

Richard "Dickie" Eugene Clayton, Sr., 76, of Albemarle, NC passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Dickie was born October 6, 1944 in Winston Salem, NC to the late Elwood Clamon Clayton and the late Margaret Maxine Miller Clayton.

The funeral service to celebrate his life will be at 11 am on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by his son, Rev. Richard Clayton, Jr..

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Joan "Hoopie" Clayton; sons, Richard (Donna) Clayton, Jr. of Richfield, Sam (Cindy) Clayton of Richfield; daughter, Brandy (Brandon) Lowder of Richfield; sister, Jane (Oron) Huneycutt of Albemarle; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel, Anna, Grace, Jacob, Jeslyn, Tinlee; and one great-grandchild, Asher.

Dickie was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He worked in banking for 48 years. Being very supportive of his community, he actively served on many organizational boards. He was also an exceptional golfer, love wood working, and was an avid Willie Nelson fan. Dickie was a giving and caring man who will be missed by all who knew him.
