Rickie Lee Williams, 54, of Norwood, NC passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 29, 2020.
Rick was born July 3, 1965 in Charleston, SC to the late Barry Lee Williams and Diane Christine Snell Williams.
In addition to his mother Diane, survivors also include his wife of 28 years, Sharon Helms Williams of the home; son, Wyatt L. Williams of Wilmington, NC; brother, Jeffrey David Williams and wife Dawn; nephew, Hunter Barry Williams; niece, Heather Kendall and husband Drew; father-in-law and mother-in-law Donald Ray and Margaret Helms of Wingate; as well as several nieces and nephews on Sharon's side.
Rick Williams never met a stranger, only a new friend. He loved spending time with his wife and son. Family was always at the top of his priority list. He enjoyed being an elected official and serving the public. Rick’s hobbies were fishing, cooking, and dirt track racing. His favorite thing to do was preparing team meals for his son’s high school football team, and cheering him on from the stands.
Rick would want to remind everyone to take the time to stop and feed the fishes, and that there is a better life in Jesus Christ.
During this time of social distancing, the family will not be present, but friends may stop by to pay their respects between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. A private graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2nd at 1:00 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Stanly County and Uwharrie, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
