Rita Nestor

Rita M. Nestor, age 91, of New London, NC., formerly of Honolulu, HI., passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Stanly Manor Nursing Home in Albemarle, NC. A native of New Jersey, Rita earned her nursing degree in 1944 from the Bayonne Medical Center School of Nursing. She then joined the U.S. Army Air Corps; rising to the rank of Captain. Rita met her husband Joe, while serving at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington D.C. They served and lived in several states before settling in Honolulu, Hawaii where they lived from 1963-2003. Rita enjoyed working as an R.N. for Kaiser Hospital in Honolulu for 17 years. Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe. Left to grieve her passing are her loving children, Robert Joseph of Houston, TX., and San Diego, CA.; daughter Carol Nestor Sullivan and son-in-law, Larry of New London, NC. Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, in Washington, D.C.
