Roaul Alan Yates, cherished husband, father and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 57 on May 4 at his home in Harrisburg. He was born on March 18, 1958 to William Franklin Yates and Betty Pender Yates. He was preceded in death by his parents, losing his mother in March of this year.
Roaul graduated from Central Cabarrus High School and later went on to get his associate degree in Applied Science at Central Piedmont Community College. After working for many years at Rohm & Haas and Chemtex, Roaul established a successful business, Yates Family Campground, based on his Christian belief to treat others the way he wanted to be treated. Quick to laugh and see the humor in everyday things, Roaul loved people and enjoyed socializing with friends new and old.
Roaul was passionate about music, motorcycles, his Cheyenne heritage, and above all, his family. In recent years, Roaul and Cynthia enjoyed their adventures and friendships in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
Roaul is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Cynthia Yates and their two children Leslie Lola Yates and Kevin Roaul Yates; his brothers Gary and Mark Yates and many close friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
