Mr. Robert Carman, 84, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in the presence of his three sons. He was born March 7, 1926 in Sayre, PA to Charles and Thelma Carman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was employed with IBM as a tool maker for 38 years. While at IBM, he met his wife, Frances. Together they had four boys: Martin "Rocky", Timothy, Mikel, and Patric. Mr. Carman was preceded in death by his son, Martin and wife, Frances. He is survived by brother, John Carman and wife, Liz, of Vero Beach, FL; sister, Marion Salter and husband, Jim, of Newark Valley, NY; sons, Timothy Carman, of Davidson, NC, Mikel Carman and wife, Angela, of Concord, NC, and Patric Carman and wife, Kimberly, and his grandchildren, Allison "Allie" and Patric Carman Jr., all of Harrisburg, NC. In addition to his family, he is survived by his special companion and love of ten years, Louise Yates, also of Harrisburg. Last of all, we could not forget his loyal, loving dog, "Herm," Herman, who surely will miss him. Mr. Carman had a wonderful life. He enjoyed family, friends, riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and bluegrass music. Mr. Carman's remains will be buried along-side his wife and son in Candor, NY. The family would like to thank Hospice of Charlotte for the excellent care they provided. A memorial service will be held at the home, Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 2:00 until 5:00.
