Robert Thurman "Pete" Clark of Albemarle, died August 31, 2009 at Stanly Regional Hospital in Albemarle. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church with a 30 minute state. Rev. Mark Weekly, Rev. Harold McDonald, and Rev. Leslee Wray will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park. The son of the late Ray Burns Clark and Maude Underwood Clark, he attended Albemarle High School, Pfeiffer College and Appalachian State Teachers College. He received his advanced principal certificate from UNC-CH. He was the principal of West Albemarle Elementary School and Central Elementry School for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Albemarle Lions Club and Albemarle Optimist Club. A member of Masonic Lodge # 703, he was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Pete served on the school board for Albemarle City Schools. The family will meet at his home. He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Eloise O'Briant Clark of Albemarle, Daughters; Anne Rae Clark Frazier and husband Mark of Kernersville, Virginia "Ginny" Mae Clark Burris and husband Kerry of New London, and Nancy Rose Clark Moody and husband David of Cary, grandchildren: Emily Frazier Spruill and husband Lee, Ryan Christopher Burris, Holly Anne Moody and Sarah Michelle Moody, Great Grandson-Davis Lee Spruill of Stedman. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 172 N. Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
