Robert Dorton, Sr

Robert Lee Dorton, Sr., 68 years of age, of Midland, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015.

Robert was born December 12, 1946 in Mecklenburg County to the late Martin Lee Dorton and Eva Virginia Stilwell Dorton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Louise Covington; and a brother, Dwayne Dorton.

The funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at New Horizon Baptist Church in Midland, officiated by Rev. Gary Wyrick. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home of his sister, Darlene Rushing.

In addition to his mother, Eva Virginia Stilwell Dorton of Midland, he is survived by his son, Robert Lee Dorton, Jr. of Concord; daughters, Teresa Dorton Morgan, and Melinda Page and husband William, both of Concord; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Dorton of Oakboro, and Hugh Dorton of Texas; sisters, Darlene Rushing and husband Tom of Midland, and Wanda Hagler shoe of Oakboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert loved fishing and watching NASCAR.
