Robert Grady

October 20, 1989 — December 1, 2020

On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Robert C. Grady, loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 31. Robert was known by many nicknames, including Bob, Bob Jr., Bobbers, Bobs, Bopper, and his favorite, Uncle Bob.

Robert was born on October 20, 1989 in the hometown of his favorite sports team, the Buffalo Bills, to Robert A. Grady and Kim (Boyle) Grady. He grew up in Cheektowaga, Java Village, and Lancaster, NY with his three siblings. He graduated from Lancaster Central High School in Lancaster, NY in 2007. He relocated to Kannapolis, NC in 2017 and worked for Lane Construction until his death. Robert was incredibly smart and a hard worker, and loved working outside and with his hands. However, his favorite job and the one he was most proud of was “Uncle,” a role he committed himself to fully the moment his niece was born in 2015. Robert lived with his niece, Isabella, for the first two and a half years of her life, and video chatted with her daily after he moved, adding his nephew Hunter to the calls when he was born in 2019. He would tell anyone that Isabella was his best friend and favorite person in the world.

Robert had many people who considered him a close friend, and it was not hard to see why so many people were drawn to him. Robert was the funniest person in most rooms he was in, and could tell a story better than anyone, leaving you laughing so hard you’d be rolling on the floor and gasping for breath. He was the life of any party he went to, and not afraid to show off his memorable and infamous dance moves, and there are many people in possession of photos and videos to prove this. Robert was also the kindest person with the biggest heart, and he loved the people in his life with everything he had. He would offer you the shirt off his back if you needed it, and would be the first person to show up and the last to leave if you called in need of help or support; for Robert, it was never a question of if he would come, but how fast he would get there. Robert was also well known for his expansive sports knowledge, and could have gone toe to toe with any sports commentator. He would watch any sport at any time, but especially enjoyed supporting his Buffalo Bills, and when he lived in Buffalo you could find him at Ralph Wilson Stadium on football Sundays, where he had season tickets with his brother and family.

Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Kim.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Robert A. and Judy Grady, his grandmother Lorraine Grady, his siblings Stephen, Sara, and Ryan Grady, his sister-in-law Heather Grady, and his beloved niece and nephew, Isabella and Hunter Grady, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A memorial service in Robert’s honor will be held at a future date in his hometown of Buffalo, NY.

A small, outdoor service for his friends and family in North Carolina will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 2pm at 6420 Old Beatty Ford Road, Rockwell, NC 28138.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Robert’s name to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Breast Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY.
