Robert Hand, Sr

Robert Howard “Bob” Hand, Sr., 81, of Locust, formerly of Garden City, S. C., passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his home. Mr. Hand was born January 29, 1930 in Lorena, Texas, to the late William Bryant Hand and Flora Lee Moore Hand. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Howard “Bobby” Hand, Jr. He served in the U. S. Air Force and worked for Duke Power in the transmission substation department. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Ric Durham. Burial will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will meet at the home of his daughter. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Joyce Beck Hand of the home; his son, Larry Hand and his wife, Donna, of Alexis, NC; his daughter, Denise Graham and her husband, Mike, of Locust; his grandchildren, Jennifer Burleson and her husband, Jeff, of Locust, Jackson Graham of Locust, Arron Hand and his wife, Katie, of Dallas, NC, and Adam Hand of Washington state; great-grandchild, Kinley Burleson; and sister, Edith Fay Roberts of Texas.
