Robert Dewitt Kimbrell, Jr.

Robert Dewitt Kimbrell, Jr., 89, of Matthews, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury.

Robert was born April 9, 1934 in North Carolina to the late Robert Dewitt Kimbrell and the late LaValette Killian Kimbrell. 
He was also preceded in death by wife, Lorine B. Kimbrell; brother, Jon Kimbrell; and sister Margaret Campbell.

Robert was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.  He served in the United States Air Force where he operated as a mechanic, specializing in radar technology.  Robert spent most of his career as a life insurance salesman for Pilot Life. He was a founding member of Northlake Assembly of God, formerly known as Evangel Temple.  Robert enjoyed tinkering with cars, watching sports, and had a love for music that led him to sing in the church choir.  God, country, and family was everything to Robert, he was very patriotic, and he will be sorely missed.

Survivors include son, Kevin (Amy) Kimbrell of Harrisburg, NC. daughter, Kim (Chris) Auten of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Kristina (Eric) Auten, Justin (Rachel) Auten, Kathryn Kimbrell and Karissa Kimbrell; sister, Diane Kimbrell.
