Robert Morgan, Sr

Robert Graham Morgan, Sr., age 88 of Oakboro, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. Born in Anson County, NC on August 22, 1921, he was a son of the late Cranford Monroe Morgan and Nannie Parker Morgan. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Magdaline Efird, and a brother, Kenneth Morgan. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oakboro and was a retired shipping clerk, ECOLAB of Charlotte. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard, Pacific Theatre during WW II. Surviving are is wife of 63 years, June Sladen Morgan of the home, son, Bobby Morgan and wife Andrea of New London, daughters; Lynn Shimpock and husband Eddie and Candy Burris Corne and husband Bobby all of Oakboro, and Becky Cuthbertson and husband Don of Weddington, and a sister, Addielee Honeycutt of Locust. Also surviving are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 16 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle from 7 to 9. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12.
